Full protection

I, too, can slowly look forward to full protection against COVID-19, which I think is particularly good because unfortunately I belong to the risk group and I also get involved at least occasionally as a supervisor or reader for our youngest generation. My better half who is constantly at meseno dealing with children and caregivers is already protected, as are my two sons, who regularly go to the ASB rescue service. Since my parents were the first to receive protection due to their age, I can now watch more and more calmly how some of our fellow citizens are leaving no stone unturned to really spread all types of COVID-19 in Heilbronn.

I only hope that this will continue to be compensated for by the exemplary commitment of the staff in our hospitals, and that we will not have lost too many fellow citizens unnecessarily at the end of the pandemic. The tragic thing is that it usually doesn't hit the ignorant and negligent fellow citizens, but precisely those who, because of their work or living situation, had no real chance to get themselves to safety.

Large theatre

Let the big fuss begin, and we long-established Heilbronners should sit back and enjoy ourselves, because one thing is for sure, top management and employees come and go.

It is actually not unknown to us that the municipal council and city administration like to roll out the red carpet for people with large purses. So far, however, this has only been worthwhile for our city in one single case, and one does not even want to think about where we would be as a city if it were Dieter schwarz wouldn't exist!

The fact that the municipal council and city administration are obviously more and more often giving up should not be taken into account by our very generous fellow citizens, but solely by the people responsible for it. And these should actually be completely clear that they are not in the same league as Dieter schwarz play and they should therefore better refrain from skipping actions.

In addition to many small and smaller actions in recent years, the Neckarbogen is now developing, and this contrary to the original planning, into a settlement for higher earners, with the residents, who describe themselves as “upscale” in the Heilbronn Voice, among others, now being aware of this complain that they are exposed to the same situation as citizens in most other parts of the city - namely noise, dirt and nuisance.

The current plans are obviously aimed at isolating the new district more and more from the rest of the city, although everyone should know — there are enough examples of this outside of Germany — that this could only be achieved if these Inner city settlement of around 3 "upper" fellow citizens fenced in and equipped with a security guard. But the whole thing only develops its real charm if you lock out all the other residents of Heilbronn, who have helped finance this new district with their tax money and taxes and will continue to do so, but do not meet the high demands of the top management, the municipal council or the current residents of this expanded area downtown (Neckar arch) suffice.

Heilbronn itself is a great city with a very long history that has reinvented itself over and over again over the centuries and has now become home to citizens from all over the world.

What our Heilbronn actually needs would be a municipal council and an administration that also accept this and, together with the entire citizenry, the whole of Heilbronn (99,88 km2) developed not only into a successful and financially strong city, but also into a very livable, friendly, clean and also sustainable city.

To do this, you would have to enter into dialogue with all citizens (no show events or administrative ringelpiez), not only show some citizens their own limits, but also take note of their needs. Together you can then pull together and all pull in the same direction for the benefit of the entire city — a good 120 inhabitants.

I'm sure Heilbronn will then develop differently than some municipal councils or their patrons would like, but ultimately it's the will of the people that counts!

site of the day

City Quarter Neckarbogen

"The central location, the excellent connection to public transport and the regional road network as well as the extensive parks and the two lakes make the Neckarbogen an attractive quarter in which living, working, learning and relaxing are combined in one place.

[The] Neckarbogen is planned as a city district with few cars. The proximity to the city center and the main train station makes it possible to cover many distances on foot, by bike, by public transport or by train.

Vehicle access is via the Bleichinselbrücke and Paula-Fuchs-Allee, which will be extended along the railway line to Hafenstraße in the coming years. This is where the district will be connected to public transport and a parking garage for visitors [and] tradespeople."

  • Good evening Mr. Kümmerle,

Can you please tell me the exact article in the Heilbronner Voice in which residents of the Neckar arc describe themselves as “upscale”.

    With kind regards,

    BastianRosenauer

    • If I remember correctly, that day it was a letter to the editor who lamented that the Neckarbogen had been sold to him as an “upscale” district: My analogy: upscale district = upscale people.
