Commission

That the European Parliament is now suing the Commission for inaction, does not come as a surprise to informed citizens, because the current Commission was set up by the heads of state and government of the EU member states specifically for this purpose. And so that everyone really understands it, you have Ursula von der Leyen, which had previously caused serious damage to two national ministries and a government, bypassed us Union citizens.

Also that the judgment of the European Court of Justice, which sentenced Poland to pay a fine on Wednesday, will remain without consequences, no longer surprises anyone.

Ultimately, the heads of state and government will agree and make it clear to every citizen that the European Court of Justice and the European Parliament are completely outdated institutions and must be put back in their place for the good of all European citizens.

We all know where the journey will take us! The fact that we citizens let this be done to us again surprises us somewhat older people a little. And afterwards they all say in unison, "we didn't know anything about it and we were all forced".

Incidence

I won't be spared again something about incidences to write (Heilbronn currently has an incidence of over 238!). Since politicians and our administrations could not get the matter under control, the incidences as a benchmark were overridden and replaced by a new construct — hospital bed occupancy.

Since the first unpopular measures were now also necessary here, the relevant minister decided again to have the calculations checked again so that they did not have to be taken after all.

However, this does not stop the pandemic from continuing to wreak havoc. The Robert Koch Institute currently speaks of an incidence for Germany of 139, 2. We Germans still have a lot of room for improvement in order to achieve halfway results in Heilbronn.

But even with this development (less than 140!), the Robert Koch Institute warns that we are again going into winter unprepared and of a growing risk of infection. “With the current seven-day incidences, there is an increasing likelihood of infectious contacts,” says the latest weekly report on Thursday evening.

In Heilbronn, for example, there is a disproportionate increase in the chance for somewhat older and not so healthy Heilbronners that they will not live to see the coming spring - the "natural selection" so popular at the time by the Nazis still has many supporters here.

Mobility Pact

Once again a nice example of what laws, contracts or even a pact actually still mean to us, namely nothing at all. Now that, after 20 years of planning and wasted tax money, it has also come to light in Neckarsulm, everyone is trying to limit the damage in a reasonably honest way.

It would have been nice and good, like the others, to plan another 80 years without this having any effect on the agreed mobility pact would have had. The people of Neckarsulm probably lost their nerve far too quickly.

German Digital Library

"The German Digital Library networks the digital holdings of cultural and knowledge institutions in Germany and makes them centrally accessible. It offers everyone free access to digitized museum objects, books, pieces of music, monuments, films, documents and many other cultural treasures via the Internet.”

The German Digital Library started yesterday the German newspaper portal with central access to historical newspapers from 1671 to 1950.

  • I am currently working with the "new refugee crisis" on the border between Poland and Belarus. What will become of it is difficult to predict. However, the way Poland is dealing with the problem is not a credit to the EU. Not the only point of criticism that one can currently have about EU member Poland. After the Polish Minister of Justice declared yesterday that Poland will not pay the fines imposed by the ECJ, I may have to address the rule of law issue before the "new refugee crisis". My first thought after the statement by the Polish Minister of Justice: The Polish regime is looking for a way to leave the EU face-saving in front of its own compatriots and possibly pull in more cantonists. The EU has no leeway in this matter. Should the Commission try to talk or even negotiate with the Poles about the fines, the reputation of the ECJ would be at stake. It is depressing that the EU is still having to deal with itself over and over again.
