Tunnels & Trace Substances

It is gratifying that the Lerchenberg Tunnel Association stays on the ball, and that's why we're seeing plans for cycle paths in Heilbronn for the first time. Now let's hope that not only the "experts" - once again 120 euros are just gone - will benefit from this campaign, but that the whole thing will lead to a coherent network of footpaths and cycle paths in Heilbronn. What would our city administration do without committed citizens?

Less gratifying is the fact that Heilbronn is once again only doing things by halves. The appropriate apology for this — not a legal obligation — on the part of the city administration is profound. With this excuse alone, we citizens could thin out our city administration enormously and still save quite a bit on taxes!

But back to half the story. Recently I was able to report that our Sewage treatment plant is modernized. Unfortunately, however, the city administration does not use an additional cleaning process for so-called trace substances — probably for cost reasons. What has long been the norm in Ulm, a comparable city, will probably be a few decades away in Heilbronn.

We people from Heilbronn prefer to “invest” in consultants and appraisers of all kinds, as well as in magazines and newspapers that write nice articles about us and give us nice titles as a city.

voting age

As much as I welcome the proposed lowering of the voting age to 16, I would like to point out that this must have further consequences. One of the consequences is the corresponding adjustment of the Juvenile Criminal and Youth Protection Act. Political maturity is only given when it is also associated with responsibility.

Further consequences are also getting married at 16, not just getting a driver's license, and also official access to obtain drugs of all kinds. Not to forget that you then have to be able to do your military service again at 16.

Despite the difficult situation caused by the pandemic, more European federalists than expected came to the 68th District Assembly of the EUROPA-UNION Heilbronn. I was also very pleased that many members excused their absence in advance and thus also expressed their interest in the association.

Our "Action 500" was very well received by the members. They also welcomed our intention to reactivate the Europe Ball in Heilbronn. This will take place again for the first time on Saturday, July 23, 2022 in Heilbronn and will certainly be another highlight in the Heilbronn event canon.

Especially the representatives of the partner clubs of the EUROPA-UNION had a hard time with the only logical and understandable Cancellation of the meeting point Europe also for 2022. But they asked the district board to check again to what extent Meeting point Europe will be possible in Heilbronn in the future.

On behalf of the district board, I was happy to promise “our” members such an examination, but I had to point out to everyone again that people or even population groups who do not vote do not take part in political life at least and are therefore not noticed by politicians either , still receive support.

Those in Heilbronn who are affected can send a first signal by not voting on February 6, 2022 for candidates who are demonstrably and quite obviously interested neither in our Europe nor in Europe as a meeting point. Remember: "Only the stupidest calves choose their butchers themselves!"
