The days when you could still claim that our MEPs were underpaid are long gone — if they ever existed. At least today we can be completely reassured, because our deputies are very well paid for their "representation of the people", although they are ultimately not even obliged to carry out this activity.
In addition, they are always allowed to continue to carry out their job or other tasks to the fullest. And to round it all off, they can secure additional income for their own parliamentary activities, such as "talking" or the resulting mandates. It doesn't even matter if the diets of a member of parliament only have the quality of postage money for him.
It is therefore completely incomprehensible that our members of parliament do not state individual income or even withhold it from the tax office and also obtain other monetary benefits - and that, as we now know, across all party lines!

There should be cities where, as a citizen, you can actually still make inquiries, applications or even requests and not only receive confirmation of receipt within four weeks, but also a qualified answer.
It should even happen that citizens' concerns are processed and implemented in the interests of the citizens. My most recent positive example is a playground next to a sports center in Ulm, which locals were happy to use as a bypass. Approximately one week after my corresponding request, boulders were already set, and after a further hint to please place them in such a way that the completely unteachable fellow citizens do not simply drive around them, also adjusted accordingly.
I will spare myself the negative examples from the last seven years, since those fellow citizens who not only have their residence in a city or who only use it as a so-called dormitory town can certainly come up with their own examples. And if you want very up-to-date examples, then I recommend talking to one of your district councilors — or a resident of Gerberstrasse.
