Others
On Thursday I was able to take part in a discussion with four current MEPs. It was a very exciting affair, but even more exciting was that they had the Hertenstein talks on their radar. And so I received further confirmations of participation.
My seminar is causing me more problems; I'm probably too old for it. In any case, I've never liked it when people - especially young people - refuse to perform. Which brings me back to the topic of minimum requirements.
The first World Savings Day took place in October 1924. I remember that I regularly took my piggy bank to the bank after my birthday. Today, this day hardly plays a role anymore. I don't think that 100 years of World Savings Day will change that.
Can this be a coincidence, hardly Donald Trump worked in a McDonald's, epidemics broke out there? This surprised me a little beforehand, since in the USA you also need a valid health certificate to be able to stand and work behind the counter or even in the kitchen. And so at least one McDonald's licensee sacrificed the health of his guests for the GOP election campaign.
Donald Trump still refuses to give any information about his health! In addition to being insane and dangerous to society, he probably also has the plague and cholera.
It is fitting that already Cem Ozdemir throws his hat into the ring as Prime Minister — his FDP government colleagues have already landed far more lucrative positions. So far, I only know this politician from corruption scandals that have accompanied him from the very beginning. OK, such continuity is rare in professional politics today; everyone really knows what he will get later. That is why so many people vote Donald Trump — there are no more surprises.
library
The highlight of the European Quarter in Stuttgart is certainly the city library. At first I was a little surprised at how much empty space there can be in a library, but then, after climbing the first four floors, I was impressed. Not by the books, though, because they actually dampened my enthusiasm. Especially since a quick browse through my own specialist areas revealed that the librarians there urgently need to do some more work.
Architecturally, however, the library is a feast for the eyes and the existing transport system transported me back to the 1980s, when I admired the transport system of the Bundeswehr hospital in Ulm.
I would have liked to use the library café, but I would have preferred the roof terrace even more. The former was closed for no reason and the latter was closed for renovation work - which is not understandable!
I am still very happy with the Heilbronn City Library because the library has more up-to-date books, at least in my field of knowledge. And if you like coffee, you can find it right next door.
Citizen participation
Don’t just complain, do something yourself! After years of preparation by volunteer citizens — Particularly worth mentioning is Dieter Diestler — we citizens can finally do something ourselves against a future XXL state parliament.
The Greens and the CDU, supported by the SPD, want to ensure that Baden-Württemberg will have one of the largest parliaments in the world alongside the German Bundestag in one and a half years - solely at our expense and certainly to our disadvantage.
According to the current referendum, the number of state electoral districts and thus the number of direct mandates to be distributed should be reduced from 70 to 38 in the future.
The official signature lists are now also available in Heilbronn's town hall until December 10, 2024. All citizens can sign their names from Monday to Friday in the town hall's election office. But there is also the opportunity to support the referendum with your own signature in the citizens' offices.
As soon as 770 citizens sign the petition, it will be successful! The state government must then submit the petition to the state parliament for a vote - the MPs will certainly reject it. With the planned enlargement of the state parliament As with the regular salary increases, our representatives are less hesitant. But if the state parliament does not approve the bill unchanged, it will go to a referendum.
The wheels of democracy grind slowly, but when we citizens want them to, they grind mightily. My better half and I will definitely put our signatures on the list!
