Highlights

The highlights of the day were reading aloud in the Dam Elementary School in the morning and an evening walk with my better half. Strengthened like this, you can devote yourself to reading and the now obligatory video conferences. And so I'm excited to see what awaits us all tomorrow. So I refrain from reading the news of tomorrow in the Heilbronner voice today.

sinecure

The composition of the decision-making and advisory committees in the Heilbronn municipal council as well as that of the municipal supervisory bodies, which must be renewed if there are changes in the parliamentary groups, has still not been settled, despite a court ruling at the end of last year.

I first became aware of this problem when the Greens really got into a rant about an enlargement of the Free Voters faction, because their faction was deprived of "a few additional earning opportunities" - normally such quarrels about supposed sinecures take place in silence closet instead.

As now last year by transferring from Alfred Dagenbach to the AfD faction, it was their turn to get more seats and several factions would have had to complain about losses, this quarrel even had to be fought out in court.

To make matters worse, another AfD city councilor had briefly resigned from the parliamentary group, which, however, does not make a new appointment obsolete. This new composition of the committees is keeping the Heilbronn municipal council and the administration busy for a year and a half and continues to be kidnapped — despite a court decision — in order to get a benefice from a few city councilors that they are not (legally) entitled to.

The bad thing is that neither the mayor nor the municipal council is concerned with ideologies or political content, but only who is entitled to what benefices in the eyes of those involved. At least the administrative court assumes that this is also regulated in Heilbronn, regardless of party and ideology.

speed limit

This will probably be my most controversial post in a long time; but I wouldn't be me if I left him out for that reason.

Since today we have known (Heilbronner Voice, January 26.01.2022, 6: 120) that there is also a speed limit on federal motorways in the Federal Republic of Germany. In Bremen we have been able to live with a top speed of XNUMX kilometers per hour for a little longer, probably because everyone has already left Bremen when their car has reached this speed.

But first the facts: with us, according to § 3 paragraph 3 of the Road Traffic Act (StVO) For all motor vehicles, the maximum permissible speed within built-up areas is 50 km/h, as in most European countries.

Outside built-up areas, the maximum permissible speed for motor vehicles with a permissible total weight of up to 3,5 tons is 100 kilometers per hour.

In addition, there is a recommended speed on federal motorways and all other roads with a median or at least two lanes in each direction, i.e. a recommended maximum speed of 130 kilometers per hour.

In addition, the age-old legal principle still applies here in Germany: what is not forbidden is allowed. In contrast to other legal systems, where everything is forbidden that is not allowed. This is a fact that we Germans appreciate far too little!

In addition, however, the age-old principle also applies that not everything is legitimate or required that is also permitted. With this principle, however, we are certainly overtaxing the majority of our population, which is why they are increasingly and vehemently craving for all kinds of prohibitions - especially when envy, hatred or racism once again gain the upper hand.

In fact, we have had maximum speeds of 20 to 40 kilometers per hour in Germany for a long time, which, depending on the emotional state of the city employees who are not responsible for this, are often displayed alternately on the same street for a few hundred meters - in addition to a whole lot of populism, it will probably be filling the city's purse should be the real rationale behind it. However, the cost of acquiring and maintaining these signs is likely to be far more - and certainly more polluting - than it will ever be in profit; so it is and remains just another orgy of prohibitions and regulations.

So far, however, no politician who wants to be re-elected (the exception to the principle is tiny Bremen) has been able to set a basic speed limit - i.e. a ban - on our motorways.

As recently as 2020, our Prime Minister himself was driving at excessive and completely inappropriate speed on the A81 federal autobahn, which cost the life of a little girl. Another person was seriously injured and another slightly injured. We remember, his driver — not him (!) — got away with a fine of around 145 euros and a point in Flensburg.

You can hardly advertise the slogan “Free travel for free citizens” in a more media effective way and also use it to advertise abroad for fast journeys, if possible with cars produced in Germany, on German autobahns.

But what many foreigners don't know is that in Germany everyone is equal before the law - except for those who are more equal!

And so a foreigner recently dared, and a rich one at that with an Italian sports car — no BMW, Porsche, Audi or Mercedes (!) — to drive a good 400 kilometers per hour on a German autobahn!

As we can read today, nothing happened and nobody noticed! But out of sheer joy about "free travel for free citizens", this man (!), coupled with the pride of a Spaniard about his car and what he supposedly achieved, posted a video about "his achievement" — he is probably not the brightest.

What now leads to the fact that he is executed by us Germans purely prophylactically!

site of the day

Europaplatz Heidelberg

"In the center of the stylish ensemble of five buildings is the approx. 6.000 m² square, which invites you to linger and will be available for a variety of event options."

By the way, Heilbronn also has one Europe Square, a little longer, just nobody knows.

birthday of the day
