Brexmas

Some Europeans just wake up a little later than others. And in this case here you have to think about whether you should laugh or cry.

In any case, one can be happy that at least the UK European Movement woke up. According to their new website, these Europeans now want to:

"From the environment to human rights, with your help, we are campaigning to maintain or exceed European rights, standards and values post-Brexit."

European Movement United Kingdom website 2 January 2022

The really amazing thing is that this part of the European Movement International no longer wants to return to the EU; In doing so, these Europeans have recognized that the right step for the EU is further towards a European federal state, which these Britons actually do not want themselves. With this they show a clear edge!

Unfortunately, this clear edge has not been found in the European International Movement since 1948, because this movement continues to maneuver around. I've written several posts about this, most recently this one: European movement

So now is the time for the continental Europeans of the European movement, like those of the United Kingdom, to show their colors for the first time and decide what they actually want: either the European federal state, that's the way it is like us European federalists, or just simply a confederation of states, or a pure economic union - in which the British would have liked to stay.

After 80 years, it is now really time for our professional politicians, who are very happy to adorn themselves with posts in both of our movements, to actually show their colors and make decisions and then commit themselves.

Just dancing at all weddings and waiting for a more beautiful bride to show up is legitimate and perfectly legal, but it doesn't help society - we've seen that for decades.

That is why I suggest that the European Movement International now also clearly commits itself to the European federal state. And those professional politicians who either don't have an ass in their pants or still want anything but a democratic and federal federal state can openly get involved in other movements, e.g. B. with the superstate Europeans. Unfortunately, there is probably less for our expense-related Europeans to gain.

backbencher

Hardly is that Euro 20 years old, there are already the first advances from politics to rob our currency of its very own identity. The special thing about the euro was that it was decided not to immortalize people or actual buildings there, firstly to prevent a personality cult and secondly not to cheat any member state by choosing the buildings depicted.

Unfortunately, politicians with strong national sympathies have been pushing for some time now to overturn these decisions and give back their national identity to the euro banknotes and coins, which not only contradicts the European idea, but also the very special nature of the European Union.

But now the MEP shoots the bird Moritz Korner from, which the DPA requiresthat one immortalizes people, and then even living ones, on the euro! If this deputy came from the totalitarian corner, I could even muster a little understanding for such demands.

However, this MP comes from the FDP, and so one must assume that this party now also includes people who have at least very serious difficulties with liberal or even European principles.

It is now to be expected that the 5 euro coin will soon be available, which will then not only be known throughout Europe, but worldwide and for all time to come as "the Lindner" and will certainly gain cult status among archaeologists during future excavations in the area of former Europe.

Rundschreiben

I was able to do the first yesterday Circular of the year from the EUROPA-UNION Heilbronn to ship. Due to the current COVID-19 measures, the district board had to decide at the beginning of the year how we should deal with the first event of the year, because — and this is certainly a good thing — more people are now gathering at the European regulars’ tables than just from the state government allowed.

So we decided to have the first European regulars' table of the year take place virtually again. However, this will probably result in most “established” regulars staying away from it, but the more virtually affine regulars will not miss this opportunity. So we are still counting on the fact that, due to the short-term nature and this exceptional situation, both groups will come together for this one European regulars' table.

January makes everything new — at least we hope so.
