Associations

"A lively and functioning club always has money." Unfortunately, this statement does not come from me, but from a well-known party official. At first I didn't quite understand this statement, now that I can look back on a few years of work in the association in a responsible position, I fully support this statement.

An association is a voluntary gathering of people who have a common interest or goal in mind. Success depends on the number and commitment of members and not, as is now becoming more and more common, on transfer payments that have to be financed by the taxpayer.

If a club only exists because its active members are paid — often referred to as expense allowances — and the whole thing is financed externally, you have to be allowed to ask yourself whether it is (still) a club and not a company for the acquisition of transfer payments .

In any case, the litter is separated from the wheat here, and some clubs even spin off their own company so that they can still be perceived as a club - which actually speaks for the attractiveness of clubs.

The actual difference lies in whether an association can survive independently or is dependent on external help. In the latter case, it is likely to be a "zombie club" or even a cover for a company.

inaction

It's actually a well-known thing, at least since Ur we've known that there are places where it's better not to build. At least since the industrial revolution one can when you accept the residual risk, create building ground as long as you comply with certain conditions, make adjustments again and again and keep the necessary protection systems up to date.

It has been known for a few decades at the latest that people hardly orient themselves to reality and settle according to their mood, as well as urban sprawl, which makes the whole thing even worse. Since that time, there have also been warnings about the resulting consequences. But the really interesting thing is that politics for eight years and our administrations have viable and meaningful emergency scenarios that should have forced action long ago.

But one cannot say that no action was taken at all, because the "decision-makers" created comfortable posts or even entire offices for themselves and their clientele - unfortunately only that these serve solely for self-amusement to this day.

This doesn't bother our professional politicians as long as they themselves get good press photos at the expense of the resulting victims or can simply smile away at the corpses that fall. This calculation continues to work for them without question, since the electorate still regards the drowning of individual regions as a tragic individual fate. And since the vast majority of those who are not affected assume that they themselves will hardly be affected and if they do, then not so badly, politicians can continue to perfect their successful model of talkative inactivity.

But we are actually to blame, because we are the ones who guarantee election victory to those who promise “free beer” instead of voting to those who demand a “joint effort” and give hope to lend a hand ourselves.
