Arms trade

Apparently motivated by the German arms industry and lobby, the demands for German and Western weapon systems to be delivered to Ukraine are becoming more and more massive. I had already written about this.

The problem with this is that more modern weapons, and more specifically weaponssystem are, the more training and maintenance they require. That is why many armed forces are sticking with their traditional weapon systems for as long as they can. A good example is our Eastern Europeans, who are even further developing the old Soviet weapon systems. A better example is Ukraine, which has optimized these weapons even better than the Russians themselves.

It is therefore also only logical that Ukraine should first be helped out with the Russian weapon systems from Eastern Europe and that the Eastern Europeans should be better equipped with Western systems so that they can deliver their own to Ukraine. However, it now looks very much as if the East Europeans, because of the problems described above, do not want to do without their own weapons because they do not want to or cannot bear the costs of converting their armed forces.

That is why it would now make sense and be appropriate for Germany and NATO to help our Eastern European partners financially and in terms of personnel so that they can continue to support Ukraine. That would make militarily and financially sense and be very expedient in a war.

Out of necessity, it is now the Americans who have their own older weapon systems, but this is also combined with appropriate training and certainly also maintenance and repair aids, since the sensible solution is not supported by the Eastern Europeans and also by our own arms lobby.

And so the political pressure will increase — fueled by the gun lobby! — and we will be forced to deliver our own weapon systems as well. Except for the arms industry, which is making a lot of money with it and will have opened up a whole new market in the future - with a Ukrainian victory - hardly anyone will benefit from it.

And if we don't just want to make money from these arms deliveries, then we must also, and quite logically, deliver trainers, technicians and other support forces to Ukraine — just like the USA does.

But I already have an idea of the GroKo solution (the Union is definitely involved!): German soldiers are sent unarmed into the war to get the Ukrainians' broken tanks back on the road - and if the German soldiers survive this "relief mission". , they are then dragged to court by German prosecutors.

Swimming

It's been a long time since I've been to the Stadtbad again, and here, too, I was really resocialized. When I was still at work, swimming almost every day was part of my normal daily routine. I have often written here in the blog about the hygiene and safety standards in our bathrooms and about my efforts in this regard.

Now it looks like my long-time and very good friend has entered her well-deserved retirement; At the end of the 1970s, we were both quite a good team as lifeguards and swimming supervisors. And how do I determine this now? At least the hygiene standards leave something to be desired - but that doesn't shock me anymore.

jaded

The years are dragging on and I've settled back into my homeland. A good sign is that my grill has not been working for a few weeks due to a lack of spare parts. Since I bought this together with another grill in a Heilbronn "specialist shop", not a problem, one might think.

In the meantime I've gotten used to the fact that some specialist dealers make their living from sales alone and that guarantees and customer service are the devil's stuff. And so I didn't make a big deal out of it and turned to another local retailer. In the meantime, I know from asking the manufacturer that the spare parts can only be obtained from the authorized dealers, so I will have to be patient for quite a while.

But that doesn't bother me anymore, because in a few weeks I'll be on vacation in a country without IHK certification and vocational school-trained specialists. Then I go to a simple grill seller there and buy the corresponding spare part - good thing it only weighs a few grams.

If you read my blog post “Searched, foundIf you don't find a corresponding recommendation, you won't be surprised.
