Stuttgart 21

In contrast to the Neckar locks, the Stuttgart railway junction, whether digital or not, will soon come to a somewhat conciliatory end after a good three decades. The Gäubahn is now to be saved in a few more years, in contrast to the Frankenbahn, which is no longer even mentioned in the lectures - who would want to go to the north of Württemberg or Franconia?

In any case, yesterday I was able to get a good impression of the new Stuttgart Central Station — really impressive! Even though I no longer need this station as a commuter, it will certainly be a pleasure to be able to enter and exit there later on.

question of faith

In Africa, the consumption of alcoholic beverages has long been regulated, as even a bottle of beer is only opened at the table. For us, the consumption of wine, beer and other spirits is still a question of faith. A few years ago I already commented on whisky in more detail and I am still convinced that in our country you have to know a slightly better wine well in order to be able to enjoy it in a restaurant.

Yesterday I wanted to end a successful evening with a glass of Moët & Chandon. When the restaurant shift manager noticed our astonished faces, he quickly tried to correct the situation and presented us with new glasses, the contents of which reminded me more of an Asti Spumante - and that ruined the evening for good.

Funny that he then also mocked the too small tip, although I only "deducted" the price for two undrinkable glasses of champagne.

Speaking of questions of faith, I was a little surprised this morning when I learned that there are vocational school classes where prospective bankers still have to study religion; not to mention that most of the students are Muslims or atheists. Their main concern was not a more meaningful education, but simply a four-day week with full pay.

time-out

I am taking advantage of the 67th Federal Congress of the EUROPA-UNION in Stuttgart to take a little break. The whole thing is sweetened by a few very pleasant restaurant visits. On Thursday, my better half and I were able to dine with a few Berlin federalists, with some of us enjoying the excellent Wiener Schnitzel in Carl's Brewery chose.

The following day we secured a place in the Old Chancellery; there I was impressed by the Sauerbraten. The taste highlight of the day, however, was the Malo sure, whose beef tartare really delighted me, immediately followed by a homemade lava cake at the end of the evening.
