Sun Goddess

It took a little longer than I had hoped, but now I finally have this LP from 1974 in my hands. This time as a 180 gram pressing from 2018. Since I no longer have the record from the 1970s, I can't tell any differences either, but it definitely is Ramsey Lewis still good to hear, especially as he broke new ground with this record. He played along again Maurice white together, who was then better known to many of us as the bandleader of Earth, Wind & Fire. The song September from 1978 should probably still ring in everyone's ears.

The LP Sun Goddess still fascinates with its title track, but all the others are also very worth listening to. And since today I also know who is on the cover of the record, which has never really interested me and at most I'm interested in one James Bond film makes you think. Ramsey Lewis toured in 2011, also performing in Seattle; It was there that I met the woman who was modeling for the cover at the time and now lived in Seattle. And if you google the whole thing, you will also find the name of the photographer. In my opinion, both have nothing to do with the good music of Ramsey Lewis to do, and so I dance a little bit through the apartment — if you know the music, you also know which steps to take — and I'm looking forward to tonight, which we'll spend at a practice dance in the Brenner dance school.

Markthalle

After one Market hall in Heilbronn, like other things, by the way, was prevented for decades and most factions repeatedly decided against a market hall, now there seems to be some movement in this matter. Because according to a report by Lisa Konnecke (Voice of Heilbronn, February 17.2.2023, XNUMX) is now also contributing to the Stadtgalerie as a possible location. And the Wollhaus Center and possibly even the Kaufhof itself could definitely be considered as locations for a hybrid market hall.

This development now seems to have become possible because the mayor would very much like to have the former Reim area as an extension for his already oversized city administration and those city council factions who have always known to prevent a market hall, especially at a possible location around the market square , are now entering the race with the concept of a hybrid market hall and are thinking more of more wine bars and pubs than attractive shopping opportunities for us citizens.

But no matter what this market hall looks like and no matter where it will be found, a market hall is to be welcomed in principle. And who knows, maybe we from Heilbronn and new investors will then really get a taste for it and we'll get more market halls - maybe even a real one. There is definitely space in Heilbronn!

bowling night

After I was able to get to know both carnival and bowling for professional reasons a few decades ago, I then studiously avoided even coming close to such strongholds.

But yesterday the time had come and I was able to experience my first bowling evening after all these years in a very pleasant atmosphere, leaving out a few bowling evenings in Stettin or Ulm. Contrary to all expectations, it was an all-round successful evening, which was not due to the bowling alley, but certainly to the other participants. In any case, I liked this evening so much that I will take part in it again and in the future I will no longer avoid bowling.

Which reminds me of an ancient story. The wearing of the cloth jacket of a uniform, more precisely, the taking off of the same can be observed again and again to this day. Just like taking off suit jackets even at dinner or balls. I'm still one of those people who not only refuse to take off jackets in public, no matter what the situation, but also studiously refrain from doing so myself.

But now back to the story. When bowling became more and more popular with the soldiers, the question soon arose as to whether or not you should take off your cloth jacket. Therefore, the lieutenants of the Gardes du Corps decided to ask their regiment commander, a Prussian king, if he would allow this.

To this day, his answer is rumored to be very clearly ambiguous: "Gentlemen, if you're bowling, you can also take off your uniform jacket."

  • It must be recognized that the new expansion ideas for the Reim area speak for a good taste of lived history. Wouldn't the intended use have been perfectly integrated into the neighborhood of hospitals, tanneries and dye works in earlier times?
