Today we had a very enjoyable meeting with Andreas Incze, a representative of the Heilbronn City Library. The EUROPA-UNION, in cooperation with the Europa Zentrum Baden-Württemberg and the Heilbronn City Library, will for the first time organize an exhibition of the posters for the European competition in May of this year.

All the posters that have advertised the European competition over the past 70 years will be on display. This will be a unique exhibition that I not only recommend to every art enthusiast, but should also be of great interest to all fellow citizens who are interested in social life. And former participants in the European competition are sure to get enthusiastic.

The vernissage takes place on Europe Day of the Council of Europe, am Thursday, 5th May 2022 at 16.00 p.m. in the City Library. But I don't want to reveal more just yet.

antique fairs

It has already been announced many times that the book fair in Leipzig will be cancelled. Now it has also become known that the two antiquarian book fairs, which will be held in Stuttgart (February 18th to 22.02.2022nd, XNUMX) and Ludwigsburg (February 17th to 19.02.2022th, XNUMX) will also not take place.

I can only recommend both antiquarian book fairs to everyone, because just browsing is an interesting thing. And since, to my knowledge, we don't have any antiquarian bookshops worth mentioning in Heilbronn, the two trade fairs just around the corner were a very good opportunity to compensate for this lack.

Browsing through the countless catalogs or corresponding websites alone can bring the desired book to light, but in no way replaces actually browsing through the mountains of books and magazines - at least that's how I feel. In addition, you then miss the nice conversations with like-minded people or the local dealers - years ago I once thought of being able to compensate for this with my own Web 2.0 site, but failed as early as the planning phase.

And so today it only remains for me to refer to the two catalogs of the trade fairs that do exist:

ambassador

As we can read today in the Heilbronn voice (17.02.2022/3/XNUMX: XNUMX), the state government not only abuses our language and throws our tax money out the window with full hands, but is slowly but surely creating very interesting posts for its own clientele; and now very happily all over the world.

If one could still understand that Baden-Württemberg has had its own state representation in Brussels (since 1987), especially if one is a supporter of the concept of regionalism and assumes that the nation states will continue to lose importance, this has been the case since 2005 can no longer be explained by the national representations springing up all over the world. Not even if you represent a dirigiste economic model and believe that businesses can only be successful if civil servants at least advertise them and politicians sit on the supervisory boards.

You can find the other national representations here: Nanjing (1986!), Curitiba (2005), Pune/Delhi (2017), Kawasaki (2018), San Francisco (2018), Addis Ababa (2019), Cape Town (2019), Tel Aviv ( 2020) and London — even with its own fleet of taxis — (2021).

As a logical consequence, further national representations are being planned, which will be opened as soon as our car industry loses touch with the world market: Copacabana, Hawaii, Bermuda and Ibiza.
