Media libraries

Yesterday a weblog reader drew my attention to the following NDR program: The Power of the Super-Rich: How Millionaires Influence (October 24.10.2022, 24.10.2024 – available in the NDR media library until October XNUMX, XNUMX). Surprisingly, the statements there coincide with those that I have made on this topic here in the weblog; I like to talk about oligarchs. In the NDR report, a Hamburg city councilor describes this as “new feudalism”. In any case, the contribution stimulates reflection and we from Heilbronn also appear in it once in a while.

Irrespective of that, I have to take a stand for the media libraries of the ÖRR. They have developed splendidly in recent years and can now keep up very well with the film collections of private and commercial companies. And then — especially with shows like the one linked here — you have to admit that the broadcasting fee is definitely justified. If the ÖRR were to get rid of the waterheads, professional politicians and other supply cases, our broadcasting would be an all-round success again.

US democracy

The US democracy, which we Germans like to demonize so much, is obviously more stable than always claimed and the voters there are not as stupid as even the public broadcasters are rumored to be. And so today happened what hardly anyone would have expected: the US Democrats retained their narrow majority in the US Senate. And it is already becoming apparent that the losses suffered by the Democrats in the House of Representatives will not be as severe as is almost usual for every governing party during midterms.

In the meantime, he already had something older Joe Biden not a good start, as expected, and his vice-president Kamala Harris has been disappointing across the board so far. And so we must assume that the former, as delusional as criminal President Donald Trump is now deterring far more voters than previously assumed - which actually still speaks for many US Republican voters.

The whole thing gives hope that the US Republicans will now make the right decision and finally let the judiciary do its job. Perhaps the Americans will even manage to take democracy to a whole new level and Donald Trump actually convicted; true to his own campaign motto from 2016: "Lock him up!"

Addendum (17.11.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX):

Here is the final report of the New York Times "Republicans Gain Control of the House“. The article is freely available for the first nine readers.

disillusionment

I already stopped touring Europe and our association bodies in 2020 to promote a European state; after a few decades of futile efforts, you can take a step back. But I have continued to applaud and happily support the attempts of other European federalists who continue and tirelessly do so. I'm particularly impressed by older federalists who are still doing this, and especially when they haven't found their calling until retirement age. Because like it already Indiana Jones knew: "It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage."

And so, for more than two years now, I have been following the latest attempts by European federalists across Europe to finally make the United States of Europe a reality — it really is about time and the majority of all EU citizens have also recognized the need for it, at least since the Russian Federation has forced all of Europe and the western world into war.

Unsalaried and at your own expense (!) — not to be confused with the many professional volunteers — federalists have been touring for months — let me represent you here Javier Giner and John Marsia name — Europe and also write your fingers sore. There are now a number of drafts for a European constitution that could be discussed at least once.

Very topical and this in the context of 75 years of the European Congress in The Hague, which incidentally took place in 1948, whereby professional politics took the federal state away from us and gave us the Council of Europe in its place, citizens of the Union throughout Europe are demanding that the coming European Parliament convene a constitutional convention in 2024 and creates a European federal state in the same legislature.

This would be possible again if the great majority of our professional politicians did not do everything - really everything - to prevent this from happening again. They procrastinate, delay, adjourn, torpedo and discredit obsessively, all for the sake of power. After more than 70 years of peace and prosperity, a caste of politicians has established itself in Europe who are only concerned with maintaining their own power.

And so it is not climate change or a third world war that is the greatest threat to our professional policy, but quite simply, as has been the case since 1945, a European federal state that ensures that there is more competition and, as a result, more quality. But the really decisive criterion is that not only the European Parliament would become smaller, but also the other parliaments throughout the European Union. And that would mean that our professional politicians would be forced to finally perform or actually look for work; European competition alone would ensure that, as a professional politician, you would not simply say goodbye to state institutions, administrations or large companies and continue to make yourself comfortable there, but it would actually be feared that you would actually have to pursue a regular job — glorious exceptions, of course, also confirm this rule.

And so professional politicians are torpedoing our association committees, just like this weekend, just to prevent the delegates from being able to explicitly speak out in favor of a European federal state in the current association discussion and thus further strengthen the European momentum - this is how we continue to brake like hell and carried off!

And if you want to point out that it wasn't so bad after all, I'm only too happy to remind you of that current coalition agreement in matters of Europe - that's why this coalition was at least co-elected by the citizens - and how our own federal government torpedoed it first and foremost and showed the rest of Europe once again that German agreements are not worth the paper they are written on.
