Gastronomy

After the “usual farmers”, who only have to be taken care of when they stop complaining, our innkeepers are now also added. Another sign that things have not been running smoothly in our society for a long time.

The big problem here is that the catering industry is completely oversized due to decades of prosperity and even single households will no longer be able to compensate for overcapacities in the supply in the future.

For this reason, subsidies for all pensioners or further transfer payments to this sector of the economy, which is now also determined to be “systemically important”, will not remedy the situation. Ultimately, this is how those restaurants will survive that cater to the ever-increasing proportion of the super-rich — you could try platinum burgers in Heilbronn — or those that manage to offer food and drinks so cheaply that one is always poorer nascent society can still go out to eat from time to time - this was previously possible for several centuries without major problems.

But as already indicated, we will no longer generate the prosperity that we can continue to pursue purely clientele politics for decades or even endure every big snorer. Because our remaining prosperity is increasingly being transferred to our oligarchs with their professional politician apparatus - and we proudly call that real-social market economy.

And to anyone who now thinks that "I'm stretching too hard again", I recommend reading a historian's book, namely the book "The Road to Unfreedom: Russia - Europe - America" by Timothy Snyder conducted in 2018 by Prof. Dr. René Spitz.

general elections

Today, the French elect their parliament, more precisely the National Assembly, one of the two chambers. The first results will be published today from 20.00 p.m. A runoff will be held on June 19, 2022 in all constituencies where none of the candidates achieve an absolute majority.

Rachel Bossmeyer and Michael Evers from the Heilbronner Voice (11.06.2022/2/2: XNUMX) gave an initial assessment yesterday. I'm pleased that the French general elections are even an issue and they even made it onto page XNUMX of our local newspaper. That wasn't always the case, but it still gives us hope, namely that we Europeans are slowly but surely looking beyond our national borders.

Now I'm curious to see how the French decide. Things are not looking very good for our democracies at the moment. On the one hand we are experiencing an increase in professional politics, which is accompanied by a strong decline in skills and since the 1980s there have been increasing differences in the income levels in our societies - although I am firmly convinced that the latter is a direct result - and on the other hand we are experiencing this unprecedented external attacks on our democracies, which is also probably related.

And as of tonight, we can follow the official reactions of professional politics, which beautifully disguises their own failures. Left-wing and right-wing anti-democrats continue to be listed separately, and those who no longer vote at all are skilfully removed from most statistics. It would be very necessary to look the facts in the eye in order to be able to initiate a trend reversal after all.

Kindergarten

Yesterday I had to take note that my former parish is now also closing “my” kindergarten. I hope that these are not the after-effects of my visit there 55 years ago, because even I shouldn't have been that bad.

In any case, those responsible are sending the wrong signal, because my old home is certainly still one of the best parts of Heilbronn. And I'm asking myself more and more the question whether a Christian still has to be a member of a church community today. In my view, the professional superstructure of our churches is becoming more and more dislodged from its base, which seems to be a fundamental problem nowadays. We should consider that some tasks should perhaps not be done by people doing them for their own living. Even at the risk of not finding enough comrades-in-arms, because this would suggest that the whole thing is no longer so necessary after all.

After more than a year of references to the birthdays of people who are important to me, I have now decided to leave them alone, if only to avoid unnecessary repetitions.

    • Good morning For me, the one where I grew up myself, the northern inner city, as it is probably called today. Just Heilbronn when I was little.
I've never thought about a "worst" district. And since I now live in Südstadt and have already got to know other parts of the city better, I know that you can also live well outside of the core city. Nevertheless, the center is still my first choice.
