circle of friends

Tonight the Circle of Friends of the City Library of Heilbronn met for the annual general meeting, and we not only rejuvenated the board, but also made it more female.

We were also able to learn that our library has fared quite well during the pandemic, and now all employees are excited about the renovation and expansion measures that are scheduled to start in August 2022. By then it will also be clear whether the municipal council will bear the additional costs - after all, everything has been delayed by five years. I highly recommend this investment in education.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to returning this school year at my old elementary school being able to read aloud, this time I'm discovering new children's and youth books together with fourth-graders.

Shopping

While shopping isn't my favorite pastime, it's more of a necessity that I like to keep to a minimum, but I also really like well-designed and interesting stores. And if they still have friendly and competent employees, then I could well imagine stopping by there more than is absolutely necessary.

There is one in Sülmerstrasse "my" optician, from whom I have been buying glasses since I have needed glasses — unfortunately since elementary school. Much to the chagrin of the optician, this was previously only the case once every ten years - it's unlikely that you can make any money with it.

But what I particularly like about this eyewear shop, and I have been doing so for a number of years, is the regularly changing shop window design and decoration, which always surprises and I usually like very much.

If there was an award for best window design — it could be Heilbronn Marketing but take it to heart - if there were, then there would be Optics fuck doctor my absolute favourite.

But back to shopping on Sunday shopping under the motto jazz and shopping, which was very successful in the city center in very good weather — my better half and I also went for a walk. Such "events" simply need cities and markets, and this has been the case since the first cities and markets existed. The jugglers and musicians have always attracted customers and ensured that sales were good.

Irrespective of this, I wonder why we in Germany still insist that Sundays are also days of rest. On the one hand, it hasn't really affected the majority of the population for a long time, since many people have to work on Sundays these days, and on the other hand, the majority of our population no longer even knows why Sundays are days of rest, let alone that they have them use accordingly.

And even in those countries that claim that the majority of the population is Catholic and behaves accordingly, businesses such as: B. in Poland, for decades it has only been closed on a handful of Sundays, such as Easter and Christmas. Local people can combine shopping and going to church very well, which makes me think of a motto for the next event: “Pray & Shop”.

Start of the week

My start to this week began with a call from the past. I last saw and spoke to Jürgen in the early 1980s. On Sunday evening he called quite unexpectedly and he's coming over this morning.

It's a start to the week just the way I love it — good thing I'm still in control of my schedule; appropriate rescheduling was completed before the start of the week.
