Dancing

At the end of yesterday, my better half and I treated ourselves to a few rounds of practice dance. Today there are two more dance courses, the first to prepare for the Europa Ball on Saturday, July 23, 2022 in the Brenner dance school and the last just to relax — I had tried drumming before and realized that I was almost as gifted as singing.

By the way, I no longer measure my success in dancing by the number of figures I danced, but solely by whether my better half and I liked the dance in question. And if something doesn't quite work out again, then we remember that we danced the Les Lanciers with our Danish comrades and their wives for almost four years, for professional reasons, and were even certified as a dancing couple. Les Lanciers consists of five rounds, each with its own dance steps: la Dorset, la Victoria, les Moulinets, les Visites and les Lancers.

citizen festival

Yesterday I spent almost the entire day in the state parliament. The occasion was this year's public festival. And compared to previous years, this festival was a very pleasant one. Only once did a complete idiot fight with his entourage, but immediately withdrew when I informed him that we weren't in kindergarten here — if only it were always that easy.

And since I left out the important speeches of even more important people, I was able to do some of the normal club bureaucracy on the side. In addition, this time it was very significant which celebrities could be seen at our stand and which not - that's perhaps why the day was so relaxing for everyone.

If you have never been to the public festival of the state parliament or even to the open day of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, I recommend that you simply drop by the public festival in Stuttgart next year. You don't have to stay there all day like we volunteers do, but you can definitely include other program items.

Stammtisch

For a long time, two days ago, the members of the German-African Association met for a regulars' table. After a long break due to the pandemic, there was not only a lot of new things to tell, but there were also a lot of changes among individual members. I found it very interesting that a gifted young African drummer used the time and is now also offering dance classes — both together, he says, a good way to ease the tensions caused by the pandemic or to ease the related lack of exercise to balance. He gives his courses both in the Wertwiesenpark and in a municipal facility.

Since I've known him for a while, this must be a very interesting way to get fit and relaxed again. If you're interested in it, it's best to get in touch Sibylle Schmid from the German-African Association: sibylle_hn@gmx.de
