AFCO meeting

The next meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs of the European Parliament (AFCO) will take place in Brussels on January 26, 2022, but this time in hybrid form.

The EUROPA-UNION is currently planning to accompany this committee meeting with its own event. In this German-speaking accompanying event, the topic will be introduced, the different positions of the European party families will be presented and the advantages and disadvantages of the various drafts will also be discussed.

It is very gratifying that work is being done on our Europe almost everywhere. And the official conference on the future of Europe will continue. So we can certainly come up with many new and certainly also very interesting ideas and concepts at the upcoming 6th Hertenstein Talks, which we will then discuss further in our own discussion groups.

Citizens' Convention

Federalists are even working beyond the turn of the year, also in a new initiative for a European federal state, namely in the Federal Alliance of European Federalists, on a new constitution for Europe.

Due to illness, I finally dropped out of it, but I still follow the whole thing with great interest. Even if this draft constitution, which is just emerging, will never be accepted by the citizens of the Union, let alone by their parliamentary representatives, this initiative is more than welcome and clearly shows that the time for a European federal state is more than overripe.

71 Europeans from 22 countries, some of which are not EU member states, have come together and are discussing a common constitution for Europe. These discussions alone are worth initiating such projects.

And if it's members of the Federal Alliance of European Federalists succeed in popularizing the final product in Europe, then this is certainly a very good advertisement for our idea of a United States of Europe.

If you are also interested in such content-related work, then the EUROPA-UNION Heilbronn offers you the annual Hertenstein talks at. And if these appeal to you, we can gladly recommend you to other relevant talks and discussion circles. However, most of them are held in English, French or Italian.

Each and every one of these discussion groups contributes to ensuring that the European idea remains in the thoughts and ideas of our fellow citizens and they also increase the chance that the European federal state will still become a desirable goal for all citizens of the Union, which one can then also do for the sues its own people's representatives more often and more effectively.

Factory outlet center

Actually, you should roll out the red carpet for anyone who wants to try to earn money with new offers in Heilbronn. And outlet centers have been in the favor of many fellow citizens for many years, some even make regular pilgrimages to the outlet Meccas, which are now available in almost every federal state.

Such a settlement would certainly have been advantageous for all sides in Heilbronn as well. In any case, it is a fact that competition stimulates business and our city could use a breath of fresh air.

Unfortunately, the municipal council has now decided against such a settlement and has put a stop to future attempts by larger companies to gain a foothold in Heilbronn with appropriate sales area limitations.

The universally popular “centre-relevant retail trade”, in our case above all the many nail salons, hairdressers and kebab shops, will certainly thank our municipal councils.

building project

The Heilbronner Voice has very good news to report today (10.01.2022/28/XNUMX: XNUMX), because in future our municipal councils are to be informed a little earlier than usual about relevant construction projects.

I myself have heard several times that the city administration often confronts the municipal council with a fait accompli, just as the administration should hardly involve our district advisory councils in decisions.

The reason for this shortcoming, which is now also discussed in the Heilbronner Voice, is said to have been that both the planning advisory board and the design commission, which was set up later, were convened too seldom.

It is now to be hoped that these improvement intentions will continue to be maintained and perhaps even implemented after the upcoming mayor election. If this succeeds, the corresponding complaints from the district advisory councils and the municipal council should be significantly fewer in the course of this year.
