haggling

As we can read today in the Heilbronner Voice (01.03.2022/30/XNUMX: XNUMX), the infinite Post haggling in the Heilbronn municipal council found an end for now. This comes as a surprise, given that the mayor had recently announced that he intended to defend the injustice committed through all instances.

The FDP and Free Voters will each lose a committee post, which the city councilors concerned will have to get over. It was worse for the Greens and the SPD, certainly also the background to this pathetic spectacle, since they are now losing supervisory board mandates and the affected city councilors are suffering a loss of income.

Now I'm curious to find out what the SPD and Green City Councilors have been compensated with? But that will probably remain a secret of the Heilbronn backroom.

mistake

Even if it's still much too early to be able to make any military statements and assessments, especially since the war hasn't even really started yet and one only thinks we can see the first troop movements and maybe even the first intermediate goals, I dare say , that Vladimir Putins biggest mistake is a poor understanding of democracy. He probably assumed it would be enough to buy a number of politicians in the West in order to have his back free for his war of aggression.

He cannot or does not want to understand that democratically elected politicians have to bow to the will of the people as soon as they articulate it. We could see that in our own federal government, which made a 180 degree turnaround in just a few days. In Europe only the Hungarian appears Victor Orban to resist the real sovereign, the Hungarian people.

And we can only hope that soon the Russian people will put their politicians in their place! Until then, I'll listen to my former favorite boss and NATO general's very cautious and deliberate attempts at explanations on television. And marvel even more at the wonderfully simple explanations and surefire assessments of the "actual experts" whose expertise once again I'm completely blown away by.

Desertion

Even if desertion in Germany is now a minor offence, we are not helping the Ukraine any further if we now look after deserted men in the EU until they no longer have to fear any personal disadvantages or inconveniences.

If we really want to help Ukraine, we should collect Ukrainian flag refugees and hand them over to the responsible authorities very quickly. Incidentally, we are acting entirely in accordance with international law and in particular with German law, which is still in force.

And the times when you could escape to West Berlin with impunity as a deserter have been history since 1990 at the latest.

opinion piece of the day

Yuval Noah Harari wrote in the Guardian on February 28, 2022, “Why Vladimir Putin has already lost this war”, noting that while the Russians can conquer Ukraine, the Ukrainians have already shown in recent days that Putin will not be able to hold Ukraine .
