Rundschreiben

There really is far too much of everything these days, including circulars or, as they prefer to be called, newsletters. Sometimes it gets to be too much even for me.

But if you want to inform your fellow citizens, you miss out on a mailing of Rundschreiben (push principle) just not around. For years I have tried in vain to establish the pull principle for my private, voluntary and also professional areas, whereby interested parties, employees and also club members inform themselves as regularly as possible on appropriate websites or forums.

Unfortunately, at least in my observation area, this is a small minority and I could probably name them all. In my case, even the very convenient way of being informed via RSS feeds cannot "bring the relevant information to people".

In the meantime, I've gone back to writing newsletters myself and distributing them by e-mail. However, I limited myself from the start.

I send out monthly circulars for the EUROPA-UNION Heilbronn and only exceptionally once an additional event notice. But even this monthly circular is now one circular too many for many fellow citizens. Nevertheless, I'm sticking to it because I don't know of any other ways to at least inform the members with the necessary club information.

By the way, you can read the current circular of the EUROPA-UNION right here .

I have also set up a newsletter function for this weblog, but limit myself to informing registered interested parties about new blog posts only by e-mail. In the event that they are then interested in one or the other contribution, they must make an effort to read it on Kümmerle's weblog.

So I'm currently taking a closer look at both types of push and trying to find out which one is more suitable for my groups of interested parties.

Bike paths

Originally, cycling was propagated by many as a contribution to environmental protection. This makes a lot of sense, especially in lowland cities with insufficient infrastructure.

However, equipping bicycles with electric motors is a real step backwards, at least in terms of environmental protection, and is also harmful to the health of the cyclists themselves. These resources (batteries and electrical engineering) would have to be used in the commercial vehicles that are actually required — that would be more effective and efficient.

It has also turned out that individual transport — including bicycles — is suboptimal in urban areas. Therefore, the expansion of local public transport should be prioritized in Heilbronn.

For the first time, this does not speak against well-developed inner-city cycle paths if there is enough space. Where these are not sufficient, one must first ensure that priority is given to overall social mobility, and this includes supply, disposal and rescue vehicles, before bringing ideological considerations into play.

And even when expanding inner-city cycle paths, concrete and asphalt should generally be avoided, especially from an environmental point of view - there are much better alternatives here.

But what doesn't work at all is what our so-called political environmentalists are doing right now: they are cementing our country with cycle highways. They damage the environment even more than the previous means of transport, whose infrastructure, admittedly, also urgently needs to be reconsidered.

In addition, however, these luxury cycle paths thwart the green stripe initiative, which is actually to be welcomed, since a concrete or asphalt path is now also being drawn next to each one. Unfortunately, it is also to be expected that these cycle expressways will be provided with lighting and, where the landscape is particularly beautiful, further concreting will take place in order to make the view even more comfortable - so to speak, the establishment of cycle rest stops, with further access and exits for supply vehicles of all kinds .

Anxiety

Why are we in Heilbronn so afraid of change? Our world is always and very constantly changing. We as individuals play a very small role in this. And for many, the changes that come about during our short lives are hardly significant themselves. Nevertheless, we humans shy away from change like the devil shuns holy water.

At the beginning of 2022, Heilbronn would have had the chance to develop a little further. The mayor could have finally retired at 65 and given the city government a real chance for renewal. Not to mention the fact that it gives a younger, more competent and energetic mayor the chance to lead our city administration with a good 3 employees into the 000st century.

So everything in Heilbronn should stay the same, which is particularly important for those who don't want to or can't adjust themselves at the end of their lives - an argument often given in advance for re-election in this regard.

And as our society as a whole is getting older, it is to be feared that this aging in top positions will continue to spread — things are no better at the state level — and thus play into the hands of those parties that still hold government and administrative positions as supply items for deserving members.
